The First 4 Things to Do After Getting the Ring

Just get engaged? We can tell - you’re practically glowing! Let us walk you through your next few “To-Do” items…

Declare

You’re so excited that the love of your life just put a ring on your finger, it’s time to share the news! There is no right or wrong time to share, some brides tell everyone as quickly as possible, and others prefer to let it sink in first before sharing. Either way, we just advise that the most important people in your life find out directly from you - and not from a social media post.

Enjoy

While you’re overflowing with joy, it’s possible the reality of what’s to come is starting to set in too. Before you get too jittery or stressed, remind yourself that you’re allowed to enjoy the engagement season, and it’s very important that you do.

Make being a joyful bride a priority throughout this season for your relationship with God, for your future husband, your bridal party, and your family. This may mean…

  • Scheduled date nights (with no wedding talk)

  • Asking for help with tasks that overwhelm you

  • Taking “wedding weekends” where you and other helpful people devote the entire weekend to knocking out tasks

  • Pamper yourself a little extra to make sure you’re getting enough rest

  • Before stressing about your wedding, pray about it

It does not matter how you get to a place of enjoyment throughout this season, it’s just important that you do.

Find THE Venue

We advise finding and confirming your venue before any other wedding planning begins. Your venue impacts so many things…

  • Guest count - How many people can your venue hold? No need to make a list only to add or take away from it once you learn how many your venue can comfortably accommodate.

  • Budget - The largest individual expense is often your venue. We find it most helpful for brides to start with the bigger wedding day expenses and work their way down.

  • Vendors - One of the first questions most vendors will ask is “Where is your venue?” - they need this info to plan travel fees around.

Discuss with your future spouse about your “Must-Haves”, “Nice to Haves”, and “Dream Haves” before going on tours. Once you have your list (even if just in your head), start booking venue tours.

Get Organized & Make a Plan

Now that you have secured your venue, get yourself organized and on a plan that makes sense. We recommend using our Wedding Planning spreadsheet (provided to our booked brides) to keep everything in one place and ensure you do not forget any small details.
