Looking for a venue is one of the first big steps to creating your wedding dreams. There are lots of things to consider, but there is no need to feel overwhelmed. Let us walk you through a few of the most important things to consider when picking your wedding venue.
Determine your Venue Criteria
As a wedding venue, some of our best advice to choosing your venue is to make a list with three columns. Create a “Must Have”, “Nice to Have”, and “Definitely Do Not Want” columns. Fill these out with your future spouse and/or those helping with your wedding planning and budget.
Must Have’s - List out non-negotiables or “deal breakers.” The items in this list should fill in the blank: “We will not book this venue if it does not have/can not offer _______.”
Nice to Haves - Next, list out the things that you would really love it if your venue had. Not necessarily a dealbreaker if they did not have it, but you do expect your dream venue to have the majority of the things on this list.
Definitely Do Not Want - This list will likely be the shortest, but if there is anything that is an absolute dealbreaker (perhaps something that compromises your morals or values) then list it here.
When you preview venues online or take your tour, bring your lists and be sure to stick with what is the most important to you!

Recommended vs Required Vendors
At our venue, the Amazing Graze Barn, we never require you to use a specific vendor. Yes - we have our Preferred Vendor’s List. But it’s just that “preferred.” This list offers you a great place to start if you are feeling overwhelmed with the choices of all different vendors, but it does not bog you down to using any specific person or business.
Your vendors are the working hands that make your wedding day actually happen. They are the hands, feet, brains, fast-reactors, and executors. Here at our venue, we believe it’s your right to choose who these crucial people are. Our Preferred Vendor list fits most of our couples well, as it allows them to remain in control of all of their biggest wedding choices!
